How many Licenses do I need ?
The number of licenses is not influenced by the number of clients you give support to.
You only need 1 licenses for each support ‘seat’ you operate. So if you’re a one-man Support Company, you only need 1 licenses, no matter how many clients you are helping. Only restriction, is that each support ‘seat’ can only run one session at a time.

Can I have multiple Licenses use the same bandwidth account ?
Yes. If, for example, you have 4 support technicians, register a new RemoteView account for each support technician - these will be known as the sub-user accounts. Then contact support@remoteview.co.za and we'll link each of the sub-user accounts to your 'Parent' account. All bandwidth used by any of your sub-user accounts will be billed to your 'parent' account.

What Connection Types can I use RemoteView over ?
RemoteView runs effectively over dialup, cellular ( 3G, HSDPA, etc ) and ADSL. In fact, as long as the 2 PCs are on the internet, you can give support to your clients.

Can I set the RemoteView Server Application to start Automatically ?
Yes. We have created a special "StartRV" application for this purpose.

How to use it ...
1. Download your RVserver application and store it in a folder on your PC.
2. Next, download the StartRV zip file and extract the StartRV file to the same folder as the RVserver app.
3. When you run the StartRV.exe file for the first time, it will create it's own ini file. You can adjust the time delay before the StartRV will Connect the RVserver to the RemoteView web Server - for example : to give your PC time to startup and conncet to the internet. The default setting is 3 seconds.
4. Create and place a shortcut to the StartRV.exe file in your Windows Startup Folder and you're all set to go.

When StartRV is running, you'll see an orange icon in the system tray.
Right Click on this icon for the options :
Settings : opens the ini file in Notepad.
Restart : closes the RVserver application and the re-starts it.
Exit : Exits the StartRV application and removes the orange icon from the system tray.

Vista
: if you want to use StartRV in Windows Vista, you should disable the Credential Manager that asks for permission to run the StartRV file every time, as follows :
when you run the StartRV file, you'll see the Credential Manager appear.
Click on the 'More' button.
Tick the box for 'do not use sso for this site or application'.
Vista will then not display the Credential Manager every time you start the StartRV application.

Restart when Connection Drops
You can also add a line into the StartRV ini file as follows :
restart=10
This works as follows : if you have StartRV running, and for any reason the Server and the Viewer are disconnected ( either by the user/s or by a dropped internet connection ), the StartRV application will keep restarting the RVserver application at the specified interval ( in seconds ) until the connection is re-established.

How can I prevent others using the bandwidth I paid for ?
Each client side Server application, and each user side Viewer application, has a built in ID code and an encrypted Password. Only when these 2 match will the connection be made. In addition to this, you’ll be prompted for your RemoteView password when you start your RemoteView Viewer application.

Can I build the Client side Server into my own software ?
Yes, you are most welcome to. But please bear in mind, that if, for any reason, the location ( IP Address ) or port numbers of the RemoteView Super Server changes in any way, you'll need to be able to update your software.

Can I have my own pic, text and logo on the client side Server application ?
Yes. See the 'Customise' section under "My Account"

How do I open the Task Manager on the remote PC ?
Due to security reasons, using ctrl-alt-del is usually not permitted during remote sessions. However, if you Right Click on the Taskbar of the remote PC, you can select the 'Task Manager'.

Which Quality (Colour) option should I use ?
The support side Viewer application has 3 choices : High, Mid, Low. If seeing the colour on the remote PC is not important, select the Low option - you'll then view the remote PC in greyscale, use less bandwidth, and the session will operate faster as the colour info from the remote screen does not need to be transmitted.

How to Copy between the PCs
At the top of the viewer window, Click the 'Clipboard Sync" icon ( second from the right ). You can then copy & paste text and files between the 2 PCs.

To copy a file/s from your local PC to the remote PC : locate the file, Right Click and Copy. You'll see a screen appear while the file is being copied across the connection. Then on the remote PC, Right Click and Paste.

Naturally, you could save considerable time by using WinZip ( or similar ) if the file to be copied is of reasonable size.

The same process applies if you want to copy other items on the clipboard, for example, text in a document.

Windows Vista -- Limitations of the User Access Control ( UAC )
When connecting to a client who is using Windows Vista, you ( the support Viewer ) will not be able to see the UAC Security Warnings on the Clients screen. You have 2 options - ask the client to Click on the relevant button when the security warning appears, or ask the client to Disable the UAC.

A simple step-by-step guide is available here :turn off UAC.pdf
